Alyce Yoshikai, the namesake of our elementary school, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Mrs. Yoshikai, 87, died from natural causes. Alyce Yoshikai was a teacher, principal and administrator for the Salem-Keizer school district for 39 years. Yoshikai Elementary School was named in her honor October 11, 1994.

Yoshikai Elementary is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.   As we review and evaluate our safety and security procedures and protocols, we encourage parents to remind students not to bring toys that look like weapons or any objects that might cause harm to others.  Students are encouraged to tell an adult if they see or hear of any item that might make the school unsafe.  Safe and secure facilities promote a stronger and healthier learning environment where students and staff can teach, learn, play, and grow​.
